Cluster "Chemie.NRW"
The aim of the cluster "Chemie.NRW" is to connect North Rhine-Westphalia's chemical companies along the value-added chain. Another focus of the cluster is to strenghten contacts and share knowledge within the processing industry, universities and other scientific units.
NRW's chemical industry is characterized by its wide range of products, ranging from petrochemicals to life science/pharmaceuticals. Due to the high diversification, the chemical branch is part of a wide number of value creation chains. Important areas for future development of NRW's chemical industry will be identified by the cluster "Chemie.NRW". The "Chemie.NRW" role is to maintain the balance within the cluster to ensure each members benefits from the network and identify opportunities for new thematic clusters.
Promotion of innovation will mainly be focused on the medium-sized chemical companies in NRW (80% of NRW's chemical companies are medium-sized).
Where cross overs exist between clusters, networks will be established to create synergies (compare networks). Chemie.NRW's Cluster-Manager, Prof. Dr. Michael Dröscher, is the main contact for science, economy, investors, politics and media.
